My partner teacher told me her sister owns a Kimono school. Her students sometimes get together for special events. This was one of those events. I got dressed in a kimono, then we walked down by the river and ate Japanese food underneath the Cherry Blossom trees. It was a perfect day!
mashup i made of the 2 songs - enjoy

Want to know more about Kyoto? http://www.facebook.com/discoverkyoto ********************************************** Around the world, most of the people know the word Geisha. In Kyoto, it is more common to use the word Geiko. The word Maiko refers to the young Geiko (Geisha) apprentices. On November 5, we had this great event in Omotesando, Tokyo. On that Saturday, the Fashion Magazine VOGUE was celebrating the 2011 Fashion's Night Out in the area. The great feature for our party was that we invited one Geiko and two Maiko to perform traditional dances, to show and promote the culture of Kyoto in the Tokyo area. In the party we counted with the presence of many Kyoto Fans, who shared with us an exceptional evening. For a comprehensive guide to sightseeing in Kyoto, check out our websi...

They are a unique cultural assets no visitor to Japan should miss - if you can catch them. These days there are only a handful of these highly specialized entertainers left. The Gion quarter in Kyoto is your best bet. This is a short video from my visit in October 2013. If you like to know more about finding real Geishas in Kyoto check out the link above. Hello Japan-hoppers ! We welcome you with a warm heart and cozy bed ! We are the first hostel of J-Hoppers hostels founded by a world motorcyclist. This moon-watching party and casual tea ceremony party was held on 15th September at J-Hoppers Kyoto.
The annual Hō-Taikō Hanami Gyōretsu (Toyotomi Hideyoshi's cherry blossom viewing parade - 豊太閤花見行列) was held at Daigo-ji temple (醍醐寺) in Kyoto, on the 12th of April. The procession exits the Sanbō-in garden (三宝院) through the Karamon gate and makes it way via the Sandō (参道), the approach to the main area of the temple, to the Kondō (金堂), the main building of Daigo-ji temple. Leading the procession is a group of young hanami dancers. Then the big moment arrives and the doors of the karamon gate are opened.
